The work includes earthwork in excavation for foundations and floors of bridges, retaining walls, and other miscellaneous structures in connection with Gauge Conversion, Doubling, New lines. It involves setting out, dressing of sides, ramming of bottom, backfilling, and consolidation of layers, including disposal of surplus soil, shoring, and strutting as directed by the Engineer in charge.
